New York City

The City That Never Sleeps. The Big Apple. The Melting Pot. The Capital of the World. NYC is all of these things and more, which makes it one of our favourite cities in the USA.

Why? Unlimited attractions, world famous sites, a buzzing atmosphere, great food… the list is endless.

We visited New York towards the end of January 2017 and would highly recommend a stay at this time of the year, as it is the quietest in terms of tourists. Obviously it was still extremely busy and lively, but there was barely any queuing for attractions which meant we got to see the absolute maximum during our time there. We stayed for 6 nights but would have happily doubled that length of time if possible! We were also pretty lucky weather wise, with bright skies most days and only the lightest falling of snow on our final day.

We stayed in Times Square, arguably the best location in the city due to its close proximity to most major attractions. During our stay, we purchased a 7 day unlimited subway pass for $31, great value for money if you are doing a lot of sightseeing. Overall, we felt the city was relatively safe and we were more than comfortable getting public transport and walking around quieter districts at night.
