Where to Stay: Cyprus

Having visited Cyprus many times, we’ve come across many fantastic places to stay across the island. We particularly love the south-east coast (commonly referred to as the Larnaca region) so below is a few of our top hotels in this area.

Sunrise Pearl (Protaras)

Location is one of the many attractive features of this beautiful hotel, which can be found right in the heart of the Protaras strip. Public transport is right outside the door, the beach directly behind and a vibrant nightlife just metres away. However, the building is set slightly back from the street meaning you wont be disturbed by noise at any time, night or day. Another hugely appealing feature of the Sunrise Pearl is its fantastic spa; a great choice of treatments are available and the spa boasts a range of facilities such as a snow chamber, samarium and Thalasso pools. There is of course outdoors pools, four in fact; they are divided nicely in that the largest is for all ages, another for children and the remaining two are adults only, ideal as one leads to a swim up bar! The pool area is really stunning, with plenty of beds and parasols which are allocated to guests on arrival, so no getting up early to reserve via a towel! There are a range of rooms and suites, all gorgeous, but we’d highly recommend the duplex suite with a private outdoor Jacuzzi for the ultimate romantic stay. There are six restaurants within the hotel, offering a great range of cuisine, including Italian and Asian and a seafood restaurant.

King Jason Hotel (Protaras)

Those looking for a more contemporary hotel should take a look at the relatively new King Jason, located on the beautiful Fig Tree Bay, towards the end of the Protaras strip. The hotel is 4* and its design is more modern-city-boutique décor than your usual beach hotel, which is certainly a nice alternative. There is one main buffet restaurant, Piatakia, with both indoor and outdoor seating and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner plus daytime snacks. There is also a Greek themed deli serving a popular meze option, with products bought from local suppliers. Rooms are a choice of a one bedroom suit or a deluxe studio, with both types inclusive of a balcony that has a side or full sea view. The rooms are similar to the rest of the hotel, with a contemporary, airy décor and all standard mod cons. But the highlight of the hotel, in our opinion, is the pool area; the King Jason has four pools, one of which is adults only and a hydrotherapy style, meaning it can be aptly heated in the winter months. Circling the pools is a variety of seating, from standard sun loungers to cushioned beds, plus tables and chairs surrounded by the water. The Elengancia Lounge is an extension of the Hydro pool, an adults only area where drinks are served to your table until midnight. If your looking for something a bit different in beach holiday accommodation, the King Jason is the perfect option while in Cyprus.

Grecian Park Hotel (Protaras)

This hotel is situated between the lively strips of Protaras and Ayia Napa in a very quiet, very beautiful location. It is next to the wonderful national park of Cape Greco and overlooking one of our favourite beaches, Konnos Bay. Grecian Park has fantastic facilities, including a spa, gym and hair studio. Wellness is a key feature of the hotel, therefore guests have the option to partake in activities such as tennis lessons, a session with a personal trainer and even yoga classes. Those with lesson energy can just relax at the large outdoor pool, complete with pool bar and plenty of loungers and umbrellas. There are a variety of room types, but all are excellently spacious and have a soothing, natural toned décor. With such a fantastic location, we would highly recommended choosing a room with a sea view and make the most of the private balcony with a cocktail at sunset! Drinks can also be had at Xasteria, the hotels main cocktail bar or at the relaxing Cliff Bar, complete with stunning views. There are four restaurants within the hotel (including a great Sushi bar) and snacks are served daily at both the outdoor pool bar and in the foyer. Those looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday are sure to love the 5* Grecian Park and its beautiful surroundings.
